Gifton has a good reputation from his various clubs around his ability to find the back of the net, and his ability to play an exciting style of football.  The biggest challenge that was primarily from his time in England was his susceptibility to arthritis in his knees in cold, wet weather.  As has been spoken about frequently on various boards, Gifton should LOVE the hot, dry weather in Austin.  A February 2007 interview Gifton had with BBCSports on his move to Spanish Segunda Division team Real Murcia could’ve been about his move 2 years later to Austin...

“Nonetheless, the relaxed lifestyle, the fresh, tasty food and the warm welcome he has received has already convinced him that he has made the right move...

...‘I came here blind,’ he said. ‘But I saw it as a big opportunity and I am determined get on with it and see what comes of it.’

‘I have been enjoying my training and I have a smile on my face.

‘Training in the sunshine - it makes you happy.’"

To give Army members some idea of how Gifton can impact a team, below are some videos from his time at various clubs from YouTube.com…

What is also going to serve Gifton well in Austin, especially with the Spanish speaking population (who have been huge, including being the media language coverage we get the most), is Gifton’s ability to speak Spanish.  Below is a clip from when he was at Elche Football Club in southeast Spain.

Gifton is also a big favorite of the fans in Elche

(Espana Segundo Division), as evidenced by an

email that I received from Pablo Martinez Pascual

from Elche.  Take a read, as he has a lot of very

positive things to say about “The Gift”.
