Austin Aztex Sign Loan Deal for Tsuyoshi Yoshitake (M) from Crystal Palace Baltimore

September 3, 2010 :: The Austin Aztex announced yet another signing from Crystal Palace Baltimore this week, this time signing Tsuyoshi Yoshitake (Attacking Midfield) for a loan from the struggling NASL side. Less than a month after signing Randi Patterson (Forward) from Baltimore, the Aztex have arranged for a loan for the Japanese national for the remainder of the 2010 season. Yoshitake-san (in respect to our new midfielder, I will use the Japanese "-san" following his last name) came to the US from his professional career in the J2 (Japanese 2nd Division) in March 2009, playing the full season with the Charleston Battery. Following the 2009 season, Yoshitake-san was signed to Crystal Palace Baltimore following Charleston's decision to self-relegate to USL2.
The Aztex have seen Yoshitake-san only once this season, when CPB came to Austin on Sunday, May 16th (a 2-1 victory for the red and white). The new loan started in Midfield that match, and played 77', but did not register any significant stats (Goals, Shots, Fouls, etc.). In the match in Baltimore on Saturday, May 29th, Yoshitake-san did not make it off the bench.
However, Yoshitake-san has been able to play in 24 matches so far this season, scoring 3 goals, making 1 assist and collecting 4 yellow cards (no red cards). He is tied with Gary Brooks for leading scorer for CPB.
The loan comes at a critical time as the Aztex face the reality of two injuries in the midfield, with Lawrence Olum recovering from a groin injury (this was clarified as a groin injury versus a hamstring injury as earlier reported), and Yordany Alvarez out with a knee knock. Hopefully, Yoshitake-san will be able to fill the gap, and assist in providing balls to the front line of Watson (Jamie), Johnson and his former partner at CPB, Randi Patterson.
